Janet Marie Rogers

Born January 29th 1963 in Vancouver, British Columbia,a Mohawk/Tuscarora Indian, living in Victoria, British Columbia, Janet writes in many genres including poetry, prose, fantastic fiction, plays, screen writing and creative non-fiction. She has developed her writing into performance spoken word pieces and has recorded her words with music. Janet makes and paints drums and loves to use pigments on animal hide. She has brought all these elements into her performance work utilizing drums and other ceremonial movements and objects. She knows this is a point of contention within her Native communities and feels it makes for healthy discussion.
