Mandate

With Popstart the wish is to start a swell of popular support for interdisciplinary art. It is important and necessary for artists to organize themselves and to exchange information regarding their artistic practice, as well as the problems and challenges of production and dissemination of interdisciplinary creation, which resemble each other from one end of the country to the other. With the Internet, the possibility of “shrinking” the country becomes more feasible, and this project’s goal is to link practitioners and presenters from coast to coast, providing a venue and a tool to expose and promote the multitudinous interdisciplinary practices being carried out by Canadian artists.

Thanks to repeated grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, Popstart has had a chance to come into being and to continue evolving. In order for it to keep growing, the site invites all Canadian interdisciplinary artists, production companies, artist-run-centres and presenters interested in this sector, to join. The membership is what makes this website!
